Question:

217 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of TB cases in Cork Prison for each of the years from 1996 to date. [13611/98]

There were no cases of TB diagnosed among inmates in Cork Prison during 1996 or 1997. In 1998 to date two cases have been diagnosed. Both inmates received appropriate treatment and a contact screening programme was put in place in conjunction with the Southern Health Board.
