219 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of persons on the waiting list in the free legal aid centre in Newbridge, County Kildare and the number who received assistance in 1997. [13656/98]

The Legal Aid Board's law centre at Newbridge opened operationally on 27 January 1997 and during the year ending 31 December 1997 provided legal services to 211 people.

The number of people awaiting an appointment at Newbridge Law Centre on 30 April, 1998 the latest date for which figures are available, was 263.
