38 Mr. McDowell asked the Taoiseach if he will outline the expenditure on advertising for 1997 in each of the national daily, evening and Sunday newspapers by his Department and bodies under his aegis in receipt of Exchequer funds which are established by or under an Act of the Oireachtas. [13426/98]

Expenditure by my Department and all bodies under its aegis during 1997 on newspaper advertising in each of the national daily, evening and Sunday newspapers is outlined in the following schedule. The total of this expenditure amounts to £434,859. Of this amount the costs incurred by the adhoc commission on referendum information — Cabinet confidentiality referendum — and the McCracken and Moriarity Tribunals, which were established by Acts of the Oireachtas, is £409,421.
