Question:

71 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the expenditure on advertising for 1997 in each of the national daily, evening and Sunday newspapers, by his Department and bodies under his aegis in receipt of Exchequer funds which are established by or under an Act of the Oireachtas. [13426/98]

The total expenditure incurred by my Department on advertising for 1997 in the national and daily papers is as follows:

No advertisements were placed in the evening papers.
My Department operates a wide range of schemes and provides comprehensive services for for the farming and agri-business sectors. Advertising is tailored towards this target audience.
Advertising by State bodies under the aegis of my Department is a day to day function of the agencies. My Department has no function in this matter.
