My Department, together with other Government Departments, is currently preparing submissions to the Department of Finance detailing the investment needs for the next national development plan covering the period 2000. My Department's submission will include, inter alia, a detailed assessment of the funding required to support investment in environmental services, including water and waste water services, solid waste management and environmental research and development.
The submissions by Government Departments, together with submissions by the regional authorities and social partners, will form the basis for determining priority investment programmes for inclusion under the national development plan and for negotiations with the European Commission for funding of these programmes.
