Vol. 492 No. 2

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Paul Bradford

Question:

133 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a dealing for a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be completed. [13820/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 9 August, 1996. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date for the application concerned at this stage.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

134 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will have his ground rent dealing completed. [13809/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the dealing referred to by the Deputy, an application to purchase ground rent-freehold interest by arbitration, was lodged in the Land Registry on 10 February, 1998.

This case has been passed to the arbitrator and queries were issued to the applicant's solicitors on 9 June, 1998. The queries raised must be satisfactorily discharged before the matter can proceed. Finally, due to the nature of the application and the investigations which may be necessary in these cases, it is not possible to estimate a completion date at this time.
