Vol. 492 No. 2

Written Answers. - Transport Funding.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

84 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Finance the adjustment, if any, there has been to the allocation of funds to the National Roads Authority consequent on the delay in the construction of the Luas; if so, where these adjustments have been made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13746/98]

Emmet Stagg

Question:

102 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Finance if he will agree to the request from the consultative panel of the Dublin Transportation Office that EU funds secured to alleviate Dublin's traffic problems, and which are now available because of the Luas postponement, be allocated to fund the full implementation of the quality bus corridors, traffic calming measures and cycle lanes proposals; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13795/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 84 and 102 together.

DTI measures and national roads are among the alternative uses being considered by the Irish authorities in consultation with the European Commission for the reallocation of the Structural Funds released from Luas. A decision on this matter will be taken by the CSF monitoring committee on 25 June next when it meets to consider the position in relation to major projects for review arising from the mid-term review of the CSF.
