Vol. 492 No. 4

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

257 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when funding will be sanctioned to provide a water supply for an area (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that the livelihood of dairy farmers is being threatened as the creamery is unable to issue milk supplier licences for their milk due to the poor water quality. [14428/98]

A preliminary report for the Erris Regional Water Supply Scheme — Extension to the Mullet Peninsula — which will serve the area in question has been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve the scheme.
