Vol. 492 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Dan Neville

Question:

345 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Education and Science when the construction of the extension to St. Nicholas school, Ardare, County Limerick, will take place; the position in relation to the construction of this extension; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14144/98]

An application for the provision of an additional classroom at St. Nicholas primary school, Adare, County Limerick, has been received for consideration in the planning section of my Department.

The present position is that the current enrolment of 54 pupils is not sufficient to warrant the provision of an additional classroom. It would appear, however, that enrolments are set to increase over the coming years and that an additional classroom may be warranted in the future. In the circumstances, the planning section will carry out a review of the case when the actual enrolment for September 1998 becomes known.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

346 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will make funding available for the provision of the extension of the tarmacadam area to provide a suitable play area at Farranfore national school, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14167/98]

The manager of Farranfore national school, County Kerry, applied to my Department for grant assistance towards the cost of providing additional tarmacadam at the school.

My Department examined the application and has recently approved grant assistance for the project. The school manager has been advised of the details.
