Written Answers. - Ratification of Conventions.
Ratification arises in respect of conventions only. Ireland has ratified the Equality of Treatment (Social Security) Convention, 1962 which is Convention No. 118. The ratification was registered on 26 November 1964. The latest report on this convention was forwarded to the International Labour Office in 1996. Ireland has not ratified the Migration for Employment Convention (revised), 1949 (Convention No. 97), the Social Policy (Basic Aims and Standards) Convention, 1962 (Convention No. 117), the Migrant Workers (Supplementary Provisions) Convention, 1975 (Convention No. 143) and the Maintenance of Social Security Rights Convention, 1982 (Convention No. 157).
It has been the Irish practice to ratify only those ILO conventions where the necessary legal provisions are in place to allow fully for proof of compliance.
