Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

John Perry

Question:

241 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if he will grant a long-term lease or sell a parcel of land (details supplied) in County Sligo to a person (details supplied) in view of the fact that it is adjoining his farm and is in close proximity to his home and his ownership would ensure that it is not used as a dumping ground or occupied illegally; if he will make a favourable decision in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15657/98]

The State holds no interest in this property. The Minister for Finance held the property under a 99 year lease dated 25 May 1864 from a Sir R. Gore-Booth. The property was sub-leased to Sligo Harbour Commissioners from June 1940 to October 1962. The Minister for Finance surrendered his interest in the property to Gerard J. Quinn, Solicitor, 43 Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin 2, who was acting on behalf of the Gore-Booth Estate on 31 October 1962.
