Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Child Care Services.

Austin Currie

Question:

272 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the provision of a community child care centre in Ronanstown, Dublin 22; when the centre will open; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15832/98]

I understand this centre has been in operation since 6 April last: currently, it provides services for 20 children though there are plans to increase this number. Capital funding for this facility was made available from a number of sources — including £100,000 from my Department. In addition, revenue funding of £60,000 per annum has been made available on an ongoing basis. This centre will provide an excellent service for families in the area and I am pleased that my Department was able to assist in regard to the funding required.
