Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Free Travel Scheme.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

342 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs whether the free travel pass to which carers will be entitled to from 1 September 1998 will be issued automatically to all those in receipt of the carer's allowance or whether they will be required to apply individually for it. [15674/98]

It is proposed to automatically issue free travel passes to recipients of carer's allowance who qualify for the free travel concession from 1 September 1998. Notification of the arrangements will be issued to this group in advance of the issue of the free travel pass. Accordingly, there will not be a requirement for recipients of the carer's allowance to submit completed application forms.
