Vol. 495 No. 5

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Michael Ring

Question:

128 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the position in relation to the new training centre for disabilities to replace the old training centre community workshop in Castlebar, County Mayo; when the project is due to commence and if the £0.5 million approved will be lost if it is not drawn down by December 1998. [20638/98]

The provision of a new training centre for people with disabilities in Castlebar is a matter for the Western Health Board. Accordingly, I have already passed on the Deputy's query to the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board. I further understand that the board has been in direct contact with the Deputy and that the issue centres on approval for planning permission from Mayo County Council. I have no further function in this matter.
