John Perry

Question:

388 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if a decision has been made on a passport application for a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22933/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 387 and 388 together.

The person referred to in the Deputy's first question is a US national who has made an application to my Department to reside in Ireland in order to engage in business as a self employed music teacher. This application is currently being examined in the normal fashion and it is expected that a reply will issue shortly. The person referred to in the Deputy's second question is also a US national and is seeking to reside here in a non-economical activity but self-sufficient capacity. An early decision will also be made in this case.
