Vol. 496 No. 5

Written Answers. - EU Funding.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

18 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the effects, if any, the securing of Objective One status for some parts of the country will have for the remainder of the country in relation to farm pollution grants; the other grant assistance, if any, which may be affected if Objective One status is secured; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20162/98]

If it is decided that Ireland should be regionalised for the next round of Structural Funds, the allocation of overall funding as between Objective One and Objective One regions in transition would be a matter for negotiation with the European Commission when the community support framework for Ireland is being prepared. Likewise, allocations for individual measures would be decided in the context of drawing up operational programmes. The level of aid applying to these individual measures would also be decided during this process.
