156 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of approvals and the compensation paid in respect of claims submitted from persons (details supplied) in County Mayo for losses due to exceptional flooding and weather conditions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23452/98]

A total of 24 applicants with addresses in the area in question submitted applications under the scheme of assistance for weather related crops losses, 1997. A total of £7,084.49 assistance for fodder crop losses has been paid to 18 applicants who meet the conditions of the scheme. Structural and animal losses are not covered under this scheme.
