Vol. 496 No. 6

Written Answers - Commonage Division.

Michael Ring

Question:

157 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was not allocated commonage similar to his neighbours. [23453/98]

The commonage at Folio 36666 appears to refer to the townland of Bellanasally-Dookinelly (Calvy) which formed part of the Achill Mission Estate. This estate was acquired by the Congested Districts Board on a Vesting Order dated 14 July 1921, pursuant to the powers vested in it by the Irish Land Acts 1903 and 1909.

Subsequently the title position of the tenants in possession was regularised. The estate files do not show why the person named was not allocated commonage.
