Vol. 496 No. 6

Written Answers - Control of Farm Pollution Scheme.

Enda Kenny

Question:

178 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the nature of the control of farm pollution scheme to be introduced by his Department; the focus of the new scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23541/98]

The new scheme for the control of farm pollution will be targeted towards meeting the needs of smaller farmers. It will provide grant aid towards the cost of capital investments in housing, waste storage and fodder storage facilities for cattle and sheep. As the new scheme will be nationally financed, the approval of the European Commission is required. Arrangements are now in hand to approach the Commission.
