203 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason his Department has not issued approval to a person (details supplied) in County Galway in relation to the flood relocation scheme in view of the fact he has given written acceptance according to the terms and conditions of the scheme; the reason for the delay in approving this application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The letter of acceptance from the applicant of the terms under which grant aid would be made available to him under the scheme was received in my Department's office in Loughrea in September 1998. The letter was then forwarded to the Cavan office for processing. There is no record of receipt of this letter in Cavan and this has delayed the processing of the application.
Arrangements have now been made to deal with this application and an official of my Department will visit the applicant in this regard within the next week.
