Vol. 496 No. 6

Written Answers - Harbours and Piers.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

365 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will provide funding in the forthcoming budget for the provision of a new pier at Ballydavid, County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23577/98]

The question of the provision of funding for a major programme of works at Ballydavid pier is currently being examined by my Department in consultation with other relevant bodies, in the context of other applications for funding and the limited amount of moneys available to me for such works.

I should also point out that I sanctioned a grant of £5,115 to Kerry County Council earlier this year to enable it to carry out minor maintenance works on the pier.
