Vol. 496 No. 6

Written Answers - Proposed Legislation.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

369 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the number of legislative measures to be implemented within her Department to complete the EU Single Market legislative programme (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23602/98]

There are no measures within my remit at present in respect of the Single Market which are overdue for implementation.

However, Directive 97/63/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 June 1997 amending Council Directive 89/552/EEC on the co-ordination of certain provisions laid down by law, regulation or administrative action in member states concerning the pursuit of television broadcasting activities is due to be implemented by 31 December 1998.

The necessary measures to comply with this directive, including the enactment of primary legislation, will be taken as soon as possible.
