I propose to answer Questions Nos. 36, 44, 55, 65 and 67 together.

I have to a large extent already dealt with the matters raised by the Deputies in my reply to Deputy Noonan's question. Regarding the Custom House docks area extension, a detailed reply to their most recent letter of mid-September was sent to the EU Commission in October and we are awaiting their response to our letter.

The new urban renewal scheme and the rural renewal scheme were discussed with the EU Commission by officials of my Department at meetings in February, May and July of this year and the schemes were formally notified to the Commission on 17 September 1998. A response to these formal notifications is now awaited. I should point out that residential tax incentives under the rural renewal scheme commenced on 1 June last as EU Commission approval is not required for such residential tax incentives.
My Department has consulted with all the other relevant Departments regarding notifications of schemes and negotiations with the EU Commission.
