Vol. 496 No. 6

Written Answers - FÁS Training Programmes.

Richard Bruton

Question:

105 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if FÁS training centres have been audited to check their ability to accommodate persons with a disability in terms of physical access and personal back up which might be necessary. [23852/98]

During February and March 1998, in response to a commission from FÁS, the National Rehabilitation Board audited all FÁS training centres and employment services offices from the point of view of their accessibility and suitability for provision of services for people with disabilities.

FÁS is currently examining the implications of the NRB's report in the context of assuming responsibility for delivering certain aspects of vocational training and employment for people with disabilities from 1 January 1999.
