Vol. 496 No. 6

Written Answers - Harbours and Piers.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

118 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will make funding available in the forthcoming budget for the provision of a pier in Cromane, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23634/98]

I recognise the need for the development of landing facilities at Cromane which will support its effective operation as a centre for the important local mariculture industry.

I have already commissioned a number of hydrodynamic studies and hydrographic surveys, with a view to identifying the most appropriate form of development for Cromane. I intend to advance arrangements for the upgrading of facilities there during 1999.
