Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - Health Services.

David Stanton

Question:

260 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the Southern Health Board has decided to withdraw support from the Cork social and health education project; if he will provide funding directly to the project; and if he will make a statement on the matte. [24874/98]

As the Deputy will be aware, the provision of health services in the Cork area is a matter for the Southern Health Board in the first instance. I understand from the board that it is currently discussing with the directors of the Cork social and health education project the relationship between the two organisations and the level of funding to be provided by the board to the project. I also understand that a further meeting has been scheduled for 24 November 1998 in this regard.
