Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - Road Traffic Offences.

Martin Brady

Question:

341 Mr. M. Brady asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of prosecutions for unlit bicycles in the Raheny, Howth and Coolock area from the period March 1996 to March 1997. [24393/98]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that statistics on the number of prosecutions from March 1996 to March 1997 for unlit bicycles in the areas refered to by the Deputy are not compiled in such a way as to enable the details sought by the Deputy to be provided readily.

Statistics in relation to non-indictable road traffic offences, including the offences referred to by the Deputy, are compiled on an annual basis for the whole State. These statistics are published in the Annual Report of An Garda Síochána, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.
