Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - Registration of Title.

John Perry

Question:

345 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if deeds of holding will be released for a person (details supplied) in County Sligo in view of the fact that the necessary land maps have been furnished; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24690/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that they are unable to trace this application on the basis of the details supplied.

If the Deputy can let me have the dealing number, the folio number or the date of lodgement and the name of the lodging party, I will have further inquiries made in the matter.

Michael Ring

Question:

346 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if a registration dealing in the Land Registry will be expedited for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [24737/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application was lodged on 13 April 1997 and subsequently abandoned on 23 September 1998 by the Land Registry, in accordance with Rule 64(2) of the Land Registry Rules, 1972, due to non-reply to query dated 22 December 1997 and reminder dated 12 June, 1998.

However, I am further informed by the Registrar of Titles that the applicant subsequently lodged an application under section 49, that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, on 29 September 1998. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date for the application concerned at this stage.

However, I can assure the Deputy that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
