Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - Citizenship Applications.

Question:

347 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will give details of an application for post-nuptial citizenship (details supplied); if he will ensure that this application is processed as soon as possible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24743/98]

The person referred to by the Deputy made a declaration on 10 September 1998 of acceptance of Irish citizenship as post-nuptial citizenship. This declaration is currently being processed in my Department and I am informed that further documentation was requested from the person concerned on 11 November 1998.

I am advised that it should be possible to finalise the declaration and issue a certificate of citizenship when the documentation requested is received and deemed to be in order.
