Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - Inland Fisheries.

Martin Brady

Question:

76 Mr. M. Brady asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the number of personnel employed in inland fisheries; the staffing costs in this regard; and the number of bailiffs employed by them. [24396/98]

A total of 406 people are employed in the Central and Regional Fisheries Boards. This total includes temporary and contract staff and staff employed to implement EU projects. The pay bill for these staff in 1998 will be approximately £8 million.

The number of field staff employed on fisheries protection duties in the fisheries boards (after converting temporary protection staff numbers into whole-time equivalents) is 90.
