Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - Agency for Personal Service Overseas.

David Stanton

Question:

103 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Defence if he will give details of the relationship and interaction between his Department and APSO over the past 12 months; if Defence Forces personnel or civil servants from his Department have worked with or have been seconded to APSO; the cost, if any, incurred by his Department as a result of the interaction, if any, between his Department and APSO; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24442/98]

In August 1998, at the request of APSO, two officers of the Defence Forces briefed 100 APSO personnel prior to their departure for Bosnia to act as observers in the elections. In the past 12 months there have been no requests from APSO for secondment of Defence Force personnel or civil servants from my Department. My Department is not aware of any member of the Defence Forces or any civil servant of the Department having served with APSO in his-her own time in the period in question.
