Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - Departmental Telephone System.

Ulick Burke

Question:

160 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will make an 1850 telephone number in his Department offices available to the public in view of the fact that delays occur in transfers to sections as a result of the unavailability of persons at any given time. [24686/98]

My Department has no proposals to introduce an 1850 telephone number at present. However, I am arranging to have the facility of an 1890 Lo-call system in place shortly. This means that the public may telephone the Department from any part of the country for the price of a local call. The service will be widely advertised when available.
