283 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position in relation to funding for the Thurles regional water scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26679/98]
This scheme, which has a current estimated cost of £16 million, was included in the application submitted to the European Commission for Cohesion funding in 1994 under the River Suir catchment water quality management scheme. Cohesion approval has not however been forthcoming, and an alternative source of funding has not yet been identified. It is understood that revised contract documents are being prepared for the scheme.
