158 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Defence further to Parliamentary Question No. 93 of 1 December 1998, the plans, if any, there are in place to continue the voluntary early retirement scheme in view of the large number of applications received; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The voluntary early retirement scheme was part of the Defence Forces review implementation plan, 1996-8. The third and final phase of the scheme concluded recently. There are no plans for a further scheme.
