Vol. 498 No. 5

Written Answers. - Control of Farm Pollution Scheme.

Michael Creed

Question:

104 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will ensure that a control of farm pollution grant is available to all farmers who are now deemed ineligible for the REP scheme as a result of farmyard pollution. [28137/98]

Paul Bradford

Question:

124 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give details of the proposed new scheme of grant aid for the control of farm pollution. [28048/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 104 and 124 together.

My Department is in the process of drawing up a more focused scheme of grant aid for the control of farm pollution which will be better targeted towards those farmers most in need of assistance.

This process will involve examining written submissions expected from the farming organisations within the next few days to enable their views to be considered in the drawing up of the revised scheme. When this has been completed the revised scheme will then be submitted for approval to the EU Commission.
