Vol. 498 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Offices.

Pat Carey

Question:

187 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department has made any decision in relation to the locating of a probation and welfare service office and court house in the Ballymun area particularly in the context of the rejuvenation of Ballymun; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27993/98]

In relation to a Probation and Welfare Office, the property market in Ballymun has been explored and no suitable accommodation has been found. Both the Office of Public Works and the Probation and Welfare Service are still continuing their efforts to obtain a suitable premises. If the Deputy knows of any suitable available premises, my Department would be glad to consider it. I can confirm that our requirements have been intimated to Ballymun Regeneration. I have no plans for a courthouse in the Ballymun area.
