583 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of places available to the North-Eastern Health Board for children taken into the board's care. [1755/99]

The North-Eastern Health Board currently has 20 residential places and approximately 395 foster care places for children taken into care.

584 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of children in care in the North-Eastern Health Board area; the number of children from the North-Eastern Health Board area who are in care in facilities outside the area including those in care overseas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1756/99]

The North-Eastern Health Board currently has 20 children in residential care and 374 children in foster care. The board has ten children in care outside its area; four of these placements are residential and six are foster care placements. The children in foster care are placed with relatives or extended family. The board does not currently have any children in care overseas.
