Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Theresa Ahearn – the need for a total renovation programme to be carried out in Clonmel Garda station; (2) Deputy Lawlor – the provision of a permanent library for Lucan now that South Dublin County Council has lodged a full set of revised proposals and has formally expressed its satisfaction with the favourable rental terms for the proposed premises at Esker shopping centre; (3) Deputy Deenihan – the need to discuss the inconvenience and hardship being experienced by many Kerry mothers who are forced to travel to hospitals outside of the county to give birth because of the lack of an adequate epidural service at Tralee General Hospital, County Kerry; (4) Deputy Upton – the need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to examine the reform of local government in Dublin to include such aspects as an elected lord mayor and ward councils; (5) Deputy De Rossa – the urgent need for the Government to make high level representations to the EU Commission to ensure the retention of duty free sales following the publication of a special report which accepts that 20,000 jobs are now at risk; (6) Deputy Broughan – the urgent need to amend the guidelines relating to national lottery funded capital programmes to allow for full funding of projects in deprived urban areas; (7) Deputy Sargent – the need for the Minister for Health and Children to immediately end the practice of adding fluoride to the water supply; (8) Deputy Fitzgerald – the urgent need to improve services for the homeless in Dublin; (9) Deputy Rabbitte – the urgent need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to carry out an investigation into the incident yesterday at Tara Mines, County Meath; and (10) Deputy Wall – the need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to provide extra funding to Kildare County Council to repair many roads in the county which cannot be repaired under the present allocation of block and discretionary grants.

The matters raised by Deputies De Rossa, Deenihan, Upton and Theresa Ahearn have been selected for discussion.
