Vol. 500 No. 4

Written Answers. - Health Centres.

John Perry

Question:

252 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans, if any, he has in place to provide the necessary funding for primary care facilities in Ballymote, County Sligo; the amount of funding that will be provided; the time involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4097/99]

The provision of health centres in County Sligo is a matter for the North-Western Health Board in the first instance.

I have been informed by the board that it has plans to provide a new primary care centre in Ballymote, County Sligo and that there are plans to provide social housing adjacent to the site.

The provision of financial support from my Department for this proposed project will be considered in the context of the priority which the North-Western Health Board attaches to it, the available capital resources and the competing demands on those resources. Accordingly, it is not possible at present to indicate a commencement date for the project.
