328 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the proposals, if any, he has to introduce a paedophile register in view of reports that paedophiles on release from prison often re-offend; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4010/99]

The heads of a Bill providing for the establishment of a sex offenders register, the principal focus of which will be offences against children, is being prepared in my Department as a matter of priority.
