127 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the status regarding implementation of the national programme for sustainable development and development of salmon, aquaculture and sea trout fisheries; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5244/99]
In line with my overall policy objectives to support the sustainable development of salmon and sea trout fisheries and the aquaculture sector, my Department together with BIM, the Marine Institute and the Central and Regional Fisheries Boards is continuing to implement a range of development, conservation, management and funding strategies for the inland fisheries resource, tourism angling and aquaculture in the interests of jobs and economic activity in rural and coastal communities. Continuation of EU funding support for all of these programmes is a key objectives for me in the negotiations of Structural Funds post-2000.
