Vol. 501 No. 3

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Richard Bruton

Question:

156 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Defence the status of a claim by a person (details supplied) in County Louth who has become debilitated following Army service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5820/99]

The person referred to by the Deputy applied in 1997 for a disability pension under the Army Pensions Acts. His application was referred to the Army Pensions Board, which is the statutory body appointed under those Acts to investigate and report on such applications. The board reported that the applicant did not satisfy the conditions for the award of a pension, in that his disablement was not attributable to his military service as required by the Army Pensions Act. He was so informed by my Department in May 1998.
