Vol. 501 No. 3

Written Answers. - FCA Personnel.

Bernard Allen

Question:

162 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence his views on the fact that the numbers enlisted in the FCÁ in the Southern Command over the past 15 months are apparently half those in the similarly sized Western Command; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6123/99]

Recruitment to the FCA takes place on a continuous basis to replace those who have been discharged in the course of a year, up to the maximum permitted unit strengths.

The military authorities advise that the number of applicants for recruitment to the FCA Southern Brigade is lower than the number of applicants for the FCA Western Brigade.
