Vol. 501 No. 3

Written Answers. - Planning Permission.

Michael Ring

Question:

277 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, the Government has to introduce legislation to absolve sub-Garda stations from having to apply for planning permission; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5810/99]

Under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1993, and regulations made under the Act, development by or on behalf of State authorities which are in connection with or for the purposes of public safety, the administration of justice or national security or defence, including the provision of Garda stations, do not need planning permission, but are instead subject to a public notification procedure set out in Part XIII of the Planning Regulations, 1994.
