Vol. 501 No. 3

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

283 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will make funds available to Kildare County Council for the completion of a remedial works scheme at Maddenstown Terrace, Curragh, County Kildare; the reason for the delay in his Department's consideration of the council's application for funding; if his attention has been drawn to the extreme inconvenience being caused to the residents of Maddenstown by this delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6065/99]

The planning and implementation of approved projects under the remedial works scheme is a matter for local authorities. There has been no delay on the part of my Department in this matter. Following receipt of recent correspondence, discussions are ongoning with the council regarding certain aspects of their proposals and a decision will be given as soon as possible on receipt of the further technical details sought from the council. A financial allocation will be available at the appropriate time to fund eligible works.
