Vol. 501 No. 3

Written Answers. - Driving Tests.

Austin Currie

Question:

284 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if it is the case that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 15 who wishes to take out a third provisional driving licence must have a copy of her actual test appointment before being issued with a licence; if so, the way in which she can be expected to properly prepare herself for a test if she cannot practice; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6088/99]

In order to obtain a third or subsequent provisional licence, a person must have undergone a driving test for the relevant licence category within the preceding two years or, failing that, have a driving test appointment arranged. In the case in question notification from the licensing authority was received in my Department on 19 February 1999 that a test appointment was required before a futher provisional licence could be issued. A test appointment has now been issued.

Jack Wall
