332 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of prosecutions taken relating to tachograph offences for the most recent 12 month period for which figures are available; and the types of offences detected. [6135/99]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the number of prosecutions taken relating to tachograph offences for the year ended 31 December 1997, the most recent 12 month period for which statistics are available, was 1,859.
