Question:340 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has to increase the rates of pay for part-time and temporary post primary teachers with long years of service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5759/99]
I propose to reply to Questions Nos. 339 and 340 together.
A claim was lodged by the teacher unions recently with the Teachers' Conciliation Council in relation to these issues. As claims before the council are a matter solely for the council, I do not propose to make a statement on these issues at this time.
