Vol. 501 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Placement.

Tony Gregory

Question:

360 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department can assist and find a school place for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 10 accessible to the Ballyfermot area to enable him to sit his junior certificate. [6029/99]

I am not aware of the case referred to by the Deputy.

The selection and enrolment of pupils in second level schools is, in the first instance, the responsibility of individual schools. In exceptional circumstances, my Department provides assistance to parents who encounter difficulty in securing a school placement. Inquiries are currently being made to ascertain the circumstances of this case and every effort will be made to find a suitable placement for the child as soon as possible.
