379 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals, if any, he has to establish a faculty of the Waterford Institute of Technology in Dungarvan (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6183/99]
My Department has no proposals for the establishment by Waterford Institute of Technology of an outreach centre in Dungarvan.
The Higher Education Authority is currently examining the review report of the technical working group on outreach centres and a number of other studies in associated areas, such as the role of distance education in higher education. On completion of its examination, the Higher Education Authority will make the report available, together with its recommendations on the matter. These recommendations will then be considered in the context of the ongoing review of third level provision nationally and the competing demands for resources.
